Membership Information & Requirements


Benefits from Membership:

  • Professional development and education through workshops offered at the district and state-levels.
  • Networking and communication with school nurses.
  • Advancing practice activities to improve student health.
  • Recognition with other state and national organizations.

ACTIVE Member:

Any licensed registered nurse in the state of Alabama and is contracted for or employed an agency for the purpose of providing school health services or instructing in school health can join and hold the right as a voting member.

ASSOCIATE Member:

Any allied health professional or professional registered nurse who is not eligible for active membership or interested persons who support the goal and purpose of AASN may join without voting privileges.

HONORARY Member:

Anyone sympathetic with the purpose of the AASN upon recommendation from the Board of Directors and By a majority vote of the members present at the annual meeting. Honorary members however shall not vote, hold office, or pay dues.

Members of AASN, Inc. who retire from active school nursing may choose to be an associate member at no charge.


Membership is based on annual payment of dues to the AASN, Inc. Treasurer.


The membership year and the fiscal year begins August 1 of each year and ends July 31.
