Board Members Attend NASN Conference

WASHINGTON, DC - Alabama Association of School Nurses (AASN) was represented at the National Association of School Nurses' 43rd Annual Conference held June 29-July 3, 2011, in Washington, DC by Beth Brock (President), Wyndy Looney (First Vice President), and Catherine Davis (Director).  The three Alabama delegates made the trip to Washington, DC in order to represent AASN at meetings and during this year's "Trip to the Hill".  The trip was a success as Brock, Looney, and Davis met with staff members from the offices of Senator Shelby, Senator Sessions, and Representative Bachus about issues related to school nursing and student health.  Dr. Sherry Marbury, Alabama State School Nurse Consultant, joined AASN board members during their "Trip to the Hill" visits with Alabama legislators.  While in Washington, DC, Brock and Looney also attended National Association of School Nurses' (NASN's) School Nursing Leadership Academy where they received guidance on how to make our state school nurse's association stronger and more successful in it's mission to support Alabama school nurses.
